Robert Gillmor

It was with sadness that we heard the news last week that Robert Gillmor had died in early May this year https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/may/12/robert-gillmor-obituary

It goes without saying that his contribution to nature conservation and wildlife art has been significant and well known. We at the FMP are very pleased to have been a small part of his life, with his print of North Meadow NNR for the front cover of our Technical Handbook, published in 2016.

I had long been an admirer of his work, and had even treated myself previously to one of his prints as a birthday present. When we started thinking about an eye-catching front cover, Robert Gillmor immediately sprang to mind. In the pursuit of this I was fortunate to be able to visit his home during a holiday to North Norfolk, in the hope that he would agree to undertake the commission. He showed me his wonderful press and towers of lino blocks everywhere, and agreed to do the work. We are very grateful to have a small piece of work from a great artist. May he rest in peace.
