Ambassadors

Our Ambassadors are volunteers who have pledged to undertake outreach work in their locality, advising meadow owners and managers. They have been through a 2-3 year training programme with us, to help them understand our survey and research methods, so they can apply a scientific approach to assessing management of existing floodplain meadows, and help in the restoration of meadows. After their training has been completed, we continue to offer ongoing support and training to maintain their skills and share with them latest research. We now have 47 Ambassadors, spread across the country, each allocated to a county that contains floodplain meadows. You can use the map to find out whether there is an FMP Ambassador near you, who you can approach for advice.

Biography

I am able to provide advice on monitoring and management of floodplain and other meadow communities across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire through the Wildlife Trust. Much of this will be internally for Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust managed nature reserves. But in addition to this, advice will be provided reactively (if resources allow) when landowners and organisations approach the Trust for advice. This will be provided either directly by the ambassador or indirectly by supporting other landowner liaison staff. Links to the Floodplain Meadows Partnership website and resources can also be added to the BBOWT website to help people looking for advice download the appropriate information

Biography

I work in Berkshire, and across the Wider North Wessex Downs AONB, managing areas of floodplain meadow. I am looking for opportunities to enhance and restore this habitat through targeted site management and restoration projects, through partnership working.
