The FMP have allocated a site type to each meadow as follows:
- Existing meadows - known ancient floodplain meadows that as far as we are aware, contain species rich plant communities typical of floodplain meadows.
- Restoration meadows - sites where floodplain meadow restoration is known to have occurred, or to be underway.
- Community group meadows - sites where the FMP are aware that community groups are involved in the management or restoration of the floodplain meadow.
- Research trial sites - sites where the FMP have been conducting long term monitoring, management trials and research.
- Meadows open to the public - sites where public access is known to be permitted.
- FMP Ambassadors meadows - sites that have been studied by our Ambassadors during their training.
